On Thursday, 27 March the National Library of Latvia (NLL) will begin a gradual process of moving the collection to the new building – the Castle of Light – in Mūkusalas Street 3. Due to this, from the next week the library's collections (cartographic materials, rare books and manuscripts, and periodicals) and reading rooms, located in Jēkaba Street 6/8, will not be available for readers. The NLL's sections in K. Barona Street 14, K. Barona Street 3, Tērbatas Street 75 and Anglikāņu Street 5 will continue to work as usual.
Letonica profile literature partly will be available in the reading room of the Baltic Central Library in Tērbatas Street 75, as well as through the main NLL's book storage copies.
After moving to the Castle of Light, the building in Jēkaba Street will be handed to its owner and renter – the parliament of the Republic of Latvia (Saeima).
First of all, the books will be carried through disinfection procedures, and then, in accordance with the State Fire and Rescue Service (Valsts Ugunsdzēsības un glābšanas dienests) permission, transported to the new library's building.
The collections' transportation service will be provided by "FF International Movers".
The latest information about the availability of the collections will be regularly presented in the NLL's website - www.lnb.lv under "News".
