Until 16 July at the greenhouse of the National Library of Latvia (Level 1, near the main entrance) a new exhibition International Joyce has been displayed. It tells the story of the Irish writer James Joyce (1882–1941), one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century. International in his vision and impact, but always intellectually rooted in his native city of Dublin, Joyce could be said to represent the spirit of modern Ireland. Free entrance.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, together with Irish Embassies around the world, and in association with universities and centres of culture, has organised an exhibition entitled International Joyce on the life and works of James Joyce. The exhibition was first presented in 2004, to mark the centenary of the day in 1904 on which his novel Ulysses is set.
The exhibition is a joint work together with the Embassy of Ireland in Latvia.
