The conference "Open Science - the 21th century benefits for researchers" will be held on 20 October 2015 at the National Library of Latvia (NLL), within the annual international Open Access week.
On Friday, 10 July, 12:00 PM we will ceremonially open the main entrance of the National Library of Latvia (Uzvaras Boulevard).

This year on 10 June, in the National Library of Latvia (Alekseja Apīņa Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Room, 5th floor) the renewed exihibition of "Cimelia" – exposition of luxurious, rare, unnusal and specific printworks – will be opened. It will be available during working hours until the 15 October. Admission is free.
On October 15 2014, 17 000 tulips were presented as a gift from the Embassy of the Netherlands to the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and planted in front of the National Library of Latvia. The tulip bed has a special design: the thousands of red and white tulips have been planted in such a way that they represent the Latvian Presidency logo. The red tulip has been specially created for this event and during the ceremony on April 23 has received its name - "Latvija".
On April 29 at the Riga Summit on the Multilingual Digital Single Market, Latvian Minister of Culture Dace Melbārde and the R&D Manager for Europeana, Antoine Isaac, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Europeana and the Latvian Ministry of Culture. The Memorandum foresees the integration of Latvia's machine translation service Hugo.lv into Europeana, thereby expanding multilingual access to Latvia's cultural heritage data.
On 8 May in Riga, National Library of Latvia, the 23rd joint conference EBLIDA-NAPLE of the European Bureau of Library Information and Documentation Association (EBLIDA) and the National Authorities of Public Library in Europe (NAPLE) will happen.

The interdisciplinary conference "Between Truth and Power: The Role of Authors in Building and Changing Europe" will be held on 1-2 May 2015 at the National Library of Latvia (NLL), in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Latvian poets Rainis and Aspazija. The conference is devoted to the relationship between the creative spirit and power, and to the question of the role of literature and its impact on national identity and the formation of collective memories.
On 21 March in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, an agreement was signed on cooperation between the National Library of Latvia and the National Library of Tunisia. The agreement was signed by Andris Vilks, Director of the National Library of Latvia, and Kamel Gaha, Director of the National Library of Tunisia.
On 27th February the National Library of Latvia received a valuable donation – ten extensive and rich in content art albums, which represent the history of Italian art in the 20th century. With the presence of Italian Ambassador in Latvia Giovanni Polizzi, donation was gifted by Italian book Publisher Daniele Brandani.
