The National Library of Latvia calls for support for the development of the library.

Donations can be made by scanning the QR code or using a donation account.

The funds raised will be invested in the creation of an excellent library collection, as well as in the further development of high-quality exhibitions and events.

The library is open to cooperation with companies, state and municipal authorities, non-governmental organisations, educational and cultural institutions, as well as other cooperation partners. Together we create projects, exhibitions and other initiatives that promote the popularity of reading, access to knowledge and strengthen public engagement.

If you are organising a conference, seminar, gala event, anniversary or other event, the library can help complement it with specially curated content and activities.

The library offers

• thematic inquiries and factsheets on the topic of your choice;
• a solemn gift of a book to the People's Bookshelf;
• thematic tours to the library and current exhibitions;
• other individually tailored cooperation solutions in line with the concept of the event.

Let us accept with particular pleasure the publications that we seek to improve the national collection and that are lacking in our collection.

Also, we accept books, magazines and newspapers, video and audio recordings, maps, posters, postcards, art photos, booklets, calendars, manuscripts and letters, private libraries, and other publications that the library needs.

Before applying for a donation, please read the BASIC PRINCIPLES (PDF) for the development of the NLL collection and GUIDELINES (PDF) for accepting gifts.

You can apply for a donation at the NLL Collection Creation Department by writing a letter to the e-mail: davinajumi@lnb.lv.

Attached to the letter is a completed donation application FORM (XLSX) with basic information about the proposed publications (author, title, place of publication, publisher and year of publication).

The NLL evaluates the donation application and provides a response within two weeks. NLL reserves the right to refuse the gift.

The NLL shall refuse the gift offer if:

• The publication does not comply with the basic principles of NLL collection development
• The publication is already in the collection
• The copy of the publication is in poor condition

The development of the collection of the National Library of Latvia is unthinkable without the recommendations of readers and industry professionals to replenish the collection. Let us listen to the proposals for the purchase of publications and try to implement them within the limits of our financial possibilities.
