People's Bookshelf
A special book in a special place

About the People's Bookshelf
The People's Bookshelf is the heart of the National Library of Latvia and one of the central elements of the building. It currently holds more than 8,000 books in more than 50 languages. These are gifts from people all over the world, each carrying their own story and meaning.
Every book on this shelf is a personal story that forms a shared cultural memory.
All books and their recordings are available on the People's Bookshelf homepage in the section "Book search", as well as by viewing the guest gallery.
Donate your book!
Everyone can donate their book to the People's Bookshelf.
The giver is asked to write a message, personal story, memory, or wish on the title page of the book.
Please drop off the book with your personal note at the NLL Welcome Desk at Mūkusalas Street 3 (Mūkusalas iela 3) by filling out the donation form on site, or send it by mail after filling out the donation form in advance.
