Publication guidelines

Publication ethics standards, authors’ responsibilities, and manuscript review

Publication Ethics

The editor-in-chief, authors and reviewers of the Proceedings of the National Library of Latvia are obliged to observe ethical publishing standards.

The editorial board is responsible for preventing breaches of publishing ethics.

The ethical guidelines are based on the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors and are binding on the journal editor, editorial board members, authors, and reviewers.

Peer-review process

Every article published is peer reviewed anonymously by two reviewers who are not part of the journal’s editorial staff.

Average manuscript turnaround time is 18 months. See detailed peer-review process in Publication Ethics below.

Responsibilities of authors

Authors shall be responsible for ensuring that the submitted paper is a completely original study and has not been submitted to or published in another publication, and that there is no conflict of interest.

If the paper has several authors, they must all be indicated.

Authors shall be responsible for coordinating usage and publishing rights for illustrations.

Authors shall observe the requirements for writing papers available on the National Library of Latvia website.

It is the responsibility of authors to cite all sources used in the paper.

If the paper was created as part of a research project, the author is obliged to indicate that in the paper.

A paper will not be accepted for publication if it is found to have been plagiarised, have manipulated citations or falsified data.

Authors shall be responsible for ethical supervision (use of confidential data, etc.).

Authors are free to share their published work.

If authors are aware of conflicting interests, they are obliged to include ‘Declaration of Conflicting Interests’ in their manuscript.
